Midnight Thoughts

What to believe when all that you had believed to be true was wrong all along?

If everything happens for a reason then what reasoning could be given for a aching heart?

If being honest is a quality rarely found then why are they the first to be tossed out?

21 Lessons so far...

1. Move On, Move Up
Relationships end, friendships break, jobs are lost and opportunities are missed. Move on, and more importantly, move up to bigger and better things.
2. Read Everything
Stop skimming over that article your friend posted on FB or the intriguing news story on your Twitter feed. Take the 2, 5, or even 10 minutes to read a few things a day – whether its the news, a blog, or a short story. You’ll have more to talk about, think about, and maybe even a bit of inspiration.
3. Sleep On ItAnd not just important decisions! Sometimes feelings of stress, depression, and frustration can be combated with a simple good night’s rest. This means a GOOD night’s rest – not a night of drinking wine until you pass out on the couch during a Sex and the City marathon (though sometimes we all need that too).
4. Keep A Pair of Heels and a Nice Outfit in Your CarBecause seriously, you never know.
5. Do Lunch.
Stop staying at home and only seeing your friends when you go to a party, or dinner, or a movie. Take the hour (or two) to sit with your friend, eat delicious food, and actually talk and listen about life. We get so distracted with only talking through emails or texts that we sometimes forget the value of actually looking at a person and communicating with them.
Psst- need any idea for a girl’s night? I have 50 ideas right here.
6. Indulge Yourself When You Need ItDon’t wait until your breaking point to indulge yourself. Watch some trashy reality TV, eat a pizza, whatever, and then get back to life.
7. Sometimes a Month is a Lot, Other Times Its Nothing
Time is worth what you make it worth.
8. Challenge YourselfYour parents/teachers/friends can only push you so far. If you don’t motivate yourself, you aren’t ever going to find your limits, much less break them.
9. Have Some Damn GoalsDon’t watch the days roll by and figure that your life calling will fall into your lap. Take the time to set your goals and aspirations. You don’t want to find yourself still waiting for life to come to you 5, 10 years down the road.
10.  Be ProActive About Those Damn GoalsSetting goals is a nice step – but hardly enough. Don’t just hope that you’ll become CEO of Kraft as you eat a third bowl of Mac n Cheese. Work, work, work.
11. Learn to Laugh At Yourself
Laughing at yourself doesn’t mean you don’t have respect for yourself, it means you have enough respect and confidence to know that jokes are just jokes.
12. Some People Are Just JerksIt’s not your job to change them, or show them that they’re jerks. Don’t waste your time.
13. Your Views of What’s Right & Wrong Will ChangeAnd that’s okay. Don’t restrict yourself to certain morals and ideals just because that’s the way it’s always been – if something now seems right to you, then it probably is.
14. You can’t control a lot in life, but what you can control is totally worth it.
Eat what you please, wear what you like, see the people you love, ignore those you don’t.
15. Have a Savings Account (and actual money in it)And don’t withdraw from it until you absolutely have to. Being broke blows, don’t set yourself up for it.
16. If Something Is Wrong, Say So
To your friends, your doctor, your senator, your news station, your grandmother. Apathy won’t get you anywhere, ever.
17. Write Shit DownYour memory is not as good as you think it is.
18. Learn How To Change a TireIt isn’t that hard, I promise.
19. People Remember What You Say More Than You RealizeWhether its positive or negative, choose your words carefully. They’re the most powerful weapon you have (unless you have a cross bow).
20. Throw/Attend a Theme Party
Don’t be the lazy person who didn’t get into it, either. If you think you look like a fool, then you’re doing it right.
21. Bring Chapstick EverywhereSeriously, people.

The Memory's Storms

I was going through my family's old photo albums and I came across a snap that was taken in a studio a very long time ago. The snap showed my mom looking beautiful as ever, holding my hand. I could have been four or five year old easily. What stuck me in the photo was the innocence in my eyes. Of course, it is the same eyes as I have today but not the innocence unfortunately. I have attached the pic to convince you what exactly I am talking about.

Yeah I know I look cute, adorable, sweet and innocent.!!

This was the time when I knew no grief, no jealously, no selfishness, no pain but the occasional knee or elbow scratch, no tears except by the occasional whack on the bum by mom and dad. This was the time when I thought there are people inside the TV and they can be mine forever if I break the TV.!

That was the time when I used to walk in my mom's sandals, trip over, hurt my knee but still do it again when mom's not around. It was when I used all my aunt's make up, applied her lipstick all over my face and knew not a worry in the world.

Yes, I do know that growing up is an inevitable part of life but as it seems, losing innocence is too a part of it. If having to grow up bring us immense pain, heart breaking tears, unyielding decisions, burying emotions then I wish I had not grown up.

But as we all know, time waits for none and at this time all I can do is think about that time and those and rejoice the moments for I know I am not going to get back that innocence.

P.S: I am not a sadist but just a girl recalling her childhood and this is not meant to be a sad post but a sweet memory down the lane.

The Nothing of the End

It seems like ages I blogged. Life seem busier everyday!! (Gosh, I sound old!). Honestly, I was bit busy with the semester ending and with my MBA exams among other things.

It is strange how everyday life doesn't seem to change but when you look back it has. There are couple of major changes happening in my life and that's keeping me on my toes. Apart from that, I've not read a new book in the last two weeks, which I think is not a good sign but I have a huge list of books to buy and it is indeed my lazyassness stopping me from buying them.!

Now there's some good news as well (thank god for small things). I am watching quite a lot of sitcoms and movies and enjoying every bit of it. To name a few;

  1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malcolm_in_the_Middle
  2. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boston_Legal
  3. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Big_Bang_Theory
The other not so good news is that I'm on leave till August 1st as the new semester starts only then. I know you must think it is a fantastic news but for me it is not. May be it is because I love my job and enjoy every minute of it. But I guess the vacation will give me ample time to update my neglected blog. :)

That is all is there for now. Hope to get back in gear soon.

Living in the hills

I am at my college, in Thandavpur, 18 kms from Mysore, Karnataka. Forget about the social activities like cinemas, theaters, malls, parks, fountains or shopping centers, there is no power supply for at least 6 hours per day, every day. But then yeah, its green, I get to eat healthy food and I have peace of mind. And, right now I am glued to a state of the art computer with an unlimited wi-fi connection (Courtesy to my college's growing infrastructure) writing this post (You must think I’m jobless. I actually am!). As it is said, everything has its own advantages and disadvantages.

Now for those who don't know, I am a lecturer in this college. Have been teaching Computer Science for B.Sc horticulture students since the beginning of the year and I love my job.

To tell you something about my students, there's no cool group or a in-crowd. They are a bunch of 30 students, trying to blend themselves in the small crowd. I have students from across the country, Bihar, Chandigarh, Kerala, Bangalore, Dharwad, to name a few. They form a mixture of suburb and rural lives surviving in a village unknown to them. I can understand how difficult it must be for my students to adapt to a totally new environment. I consider myself blessed not to have endured a life away from family over a long period.

Teaching Computer Science to them was almost fun. Almost because not many of them have had knowledge about computers before, this made my job difficult to certain extent. For them, it was an object they were, if I could say, afraid of. They perceived computers as something vulnerable and breakable. It did take some time for them to come out of the shell. At one point I had to unplug the computer just to show them computers do not bite! It was hilarious actually. Now as I am almost done with the semester, they are much better at computers and masters at Facebook!!

I still have no idea how good a teacher I am. I guess it is too early to decide on that but what I do know for certain is I love teaching and this is one profession I consider not to be monotonous (Considering, having tried 3 other professions). But, never know, I might start looking at horizons to spread my wings. But for now, it is teaching and I AM LOVING IT!!

Christening my blog

I did it. At some point it seemed impossible, at many times it felt needless but at the end it felt completely necessary. Finally, I decided to have my blog.

Now that you've decided read my first post, I want to tell you how hard it was for me to get here. The first and the foremost thing on my mind when I decided to write a blog was a blog name. Little did I know that it would not be easy as it sounds. I wanted my blog name to be funny, catchy, lively, superb, dynamic, mind blowing, witty and all other adjectives that I'm not able to recall now but what I can certainly recall is spending hours at night on internet to find a name for my blog. I had read somewhere that 99.9% blogs that have the word "blog" in their blog name generates maximum traffic and therefore readers. So I decided that my blog must have the word "blog".

Finding the remaining string of words did not prove to be an easy task. At one point I considered naming it "I am blogging", "My blog", "Blogger blogging", "Just blogging", "Blog blog blog" ( I know, I know, I hear you. They are lame) but I had not many choice as I wanted the word "blog" and wanted it to sound funny as well (None of the above mentioned names are funny though). This is my first post and I'm sure you are humble enough to see past my mistakes. Well, coming back to the blog name. After during a thorough research on the internet for about 3 hours, I decided to name my blog "No brains blogging". No brains because this blog is created for no ulterior purpose or motive. "No brains blogging" will be about anything and everything, no definite theme, no genre, no labels, no stigma attached to it. I hope you appreciate it.

Thanks for the read. Cheers!!
